English Language Teaching and Training

English for Academic Purposes

Teaching intensive pre-sessional language courses for students from overseas about to embark on post-graduate degrees at British universities. This includes training students in the skills needed for:

reading long academic texts in English efficiently in order to extract relevant information;

writing extended essays in correct academic style;

using summarizing and paraphrasing techniques in writing to avoid plagiarism;

using in-text citation and reference systems accurately in essays, dissertations and theses;

employing a variety of useful note-taking methods when listening to lectures;

participating actively in seminars and tutorials and giving presentations in an academic context;


English for General, Business and Specific Purposes

Teaching General English at all levels in classes and on a one-to-one basis.

Designing client based Business English courses and English for Special Purposes including sales and marketing, transport and logistics, finance and accounting, medicine, tourism and water conservation.

Preparing students for RSA/Cambridge and TOEFL examinations.

Preparing students for Trinity College and RSA teaching qualifications with particular responsibility for phonology, grammar and methodology.
